Wust El Balad is a pioneering band in the Egyptian and Arab underground music scene. Formed in Cairo in 1999, they have paved the road for alternative music in the region, fusing Middle Eastern sounds with western tunes. They bring a plethora of genres to their audience, from soft rock to world music, folk, Latin, jazz and blues, performed with Arabic lyrics. The band’s unique style has evolved over the past two decades and they have released four albums — the self-titled Wust El-Balad in 2007, Rubabekya in 2011, Karakib in 2014 and lastly Bantalony El Jeans in 2018.

The songs of their latest album explore several aspects of the dystopian present we live in, from the obsession with social media to the sense of insecurity or isolation that people of all ages suffer from. Wust El Balad will perform their hits at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi.
