"Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim: Two Clouds in the Night Sky” is a solo exhibition celebrating the work of pioneer artist Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, an influential figure in the development of contemporary art in the UAE. "And After” explores the element of air and its various states through the lens of Arabic terminology, specifically “Sukoon”, “Hawaa”, “Naseem”, and “Riyah”. In Arabic, “Sukoon” symbolises stillness and the pause between movement, while “Hawaa” refers to the gentle, everyday state of air. The exhibition examines how these elemental states influence our environments and internal rhythms, encouraging visitors to contemplate the moments of pause and transformation. Featuring mixed-media works by 15 artists, "And After" reflects on the quiet intervals between inhale and exhale, where change quietly begins to unfold. The exhibition curated by Dirwaza Curatorial Lab invites audiences to reconnect with the subtleties of their natural surroundings and the shifts brought by seasonal transitions. The exhibiting artists are Yousif Abdulsaid - The florist from nothingness, Ammar Al Attar, Moza Al Falasi, Omar Al Gurg, Mariam Al Khoori, Jawad Al Malhi, Salmah Al Mansoori, Reem Al Mubarak, Abdulla Buhijji, Zara Mahmood, Iman Shaggag, Leila Shirazi, Mohammed Kazem, Ayman Zedani and Razan Al Sarraf.
Begin with an artist-led tour of the exhibition with Zara Mahmood, followed by a live drawing session outdoors. Participants will observe the shifting winter sky and work with pastels and paper as Mahmood guides them through slow looking and artistic observation.
Join the Dirwaza Curatorial Lab team, including Dania Al Tamimi, Hessa Al Nuaimi, and Munira Al Sayegh, with moderation by Auguste Nomeikaite, for a discussion on the research and conceptual development of the exhibition. The session concludes with a guided walkthrough that reveals how these ideas unfold across the artworks and spatial design.
